Tis the Season for Window Shopping

Art is the beauty that connects us. That's the way I see the world.

We can communicate in such beautiful ways with the things we make... the objects that attract our attention. Color, texture, material... oh what a wonderful world of things!Just to look at the beauty of wonderfully crafted items brings me inspiration.
Most of the time, I'm just looking. Window-shopping, if you will. A pastime my mom and I love to indulge in, a tradition I have withheld from youth.
"That hutch would look beautiful in my dreamy rustic home in the woods.."
I own a collection of window-shopped items in my mind after many years of indulging in the sport. A modern shabby chic cabin in the woods of Montana is one of them. Along with countless other properties my mind owns in France, Japan, Seattle, Hawaii...

Well, a girl can dream. No doubt... the dreaming keeps my soul alive.

I Wish you a Vintage Christmas

This Tuesday Treasury features great shabby-chic picks for the home. I am crazy about antiques, and anything that looks vintage. This obsession started as a teen with me, my friends and I would travel all across the city of Chicago looking through thrift stores and garage sales for our new/old finds.

This may be one of the reasons I love Etsy so much. Handmade items that look and feel vintage, or just good old fashioned antiques. Without even having to leave the house. Win!

Classy Christmas Gift Guide

Welcome to the Avenue

My very first post for ERA's new blog. How exciting! Having some experience with the blogging world I do realize that I may be just writing this post to myself for the time being, but I'm good with that reality. Things always pick up eventually, and I will keep at it until it does. So I will start this party off by explaining my intention for this site.

Erica Rose Avenue's Blog will be used as a venue for all things art related in my life. My own fine art work and paintings, as well as my handmade items featured in my Etsy shop Erica Rose Avenue. I will be showing off my favorite items from Etsy, and treasuries I have put together made up from other fabulous Etsy shops... a great guide for all who need some help finding the "good stuff" on Etsy.com.

I have had some great luck with treasuries in the past. In My first shop, Blue Canary Design, a treasury I created "Black White and Rad all Over" made it to the Front Page within 1 week of creating, and during Christmas! It was my second time curating a treasury.

That was last year, and now with my new shop working it's way along, after taking a year off revamping my old store (which is still a work in progress) the treasury "Cuddle Up"  was featured on EtsyLush.com last week. Pretty good for a simple gal. So I decided it may be a good idea to include them for you all to see and enjoy.

I am always looking for new, amazing shops to treasure and I really enjoy making the lists in my free time. Feel free to visit me on Etsy and let me know about your own shop!
